It could be happen to anyone. Right?

  • Pentingnya Pengelolaan Emosi Bagi Freelancer

    Andiana Moedasir
    17 Mar 2014 | 3:46 am
Seberapa penting sebuah luapan emosi memengaruhi lawan bicara kita? Coba cek bersama, secuek-cueknya seseorang, pasti terpengaruh ketika kita berbicara. Setidaknya, ‘sedikit terusik’ ingin mengetahui ada apa. Kepo lah gitu ya? Freelancer Image by Shutterstock Kita gembira, tentu orang lain akan ikutan -minimal- tersenyum. Tetapi ketika wajah kita seperti mendapat jutaan masalah (oke, ini lebay), pikiran orang lain pun akan bertanya-tanya. Stres karena apa nih? Pasangannya selingkuh? Baru saja kena PHK? Ditipu investor nakal? Invoice belum cair? Orangtua masuk IGD? Apa pun…

  • If You Think Indonesia’s e-Commerce Market Is Perplexing, You Haven’t Done Your Research

    Aulia Masna
    11 Apr 2014 | 5:27 am
Several days ago Quartz published an article about the state of the e-commerce industry in Indonesia. The article pointed out the quirky characteristics of the Indonesian market which contribute to the challenges for anyone wishing to operate an online commerce venture in the country. Andrias Ekoyuono of startup incubator Ideosource and Magnus Ekbom of e-commerce giant Lazada weigh in on the matter. Lily Kuo mentioned in her Quartz article that Indonesia’s large internet population and widespread mobile usage “make it ripe for a big bang in e-commerce”. However, she said…

Facebook Vice President of Asia Pacific Dan Neary is in Jakarta this week to announce the opening of Facebook’s new office at Pacific Place. Neary conveyed the news to Deputy Governor Basuki T. Purnama during Facebook’s visit to his office on Thursday. No, this isn’t the joke post like the one about Twitter. Facebook really has opened an office in Jakarta. “Today we’re announcing that we’re opening up a new office. It’s our first office in Indonesia, we’re opening that in Jakarta, it’s over in Pacific Place”, Neary told the Deputy…
  • Twitter to Open an Office in Indonesia

On Thursday night I was invited to an impromptu meet up with Twitter’s head of content for APAC and EMEA Christel Quek. She was in town to give a presentation at SES Conference during the day and wanted to feel the pulse of the Indonesian social media scene with a number of local bloggers. There were talks of regional programming, Twitter’s reach, and something about an office. Twitter has sent its staff to Indonesia a number of times over the last few years. Twitter Asia executives Aliza Knox and Shailesh Rao being the most prominent ones out of Singapore, not to mention a number…

    Aulia Masna
    13 Mar 2014 | 6:41 am
Earlier this month, Telkom Akses announced its 10Gbps Internet infrastructure project. The wholly owned subsidiary of Telkom plans to link up 20 million homes to the internet using fiber optic cables, unifying its currently diversified network. The project sounds quite ambitious but if executed well, will help the country catch up with the rest of the region as far as internet penetration and connection quality are concerned. The technology that Telkom Akses will be using is called XGPON or 10GPON, short for 10 Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network. The standard, which was ratified in 2010…
  • Mobile Carriers Must Rediscover Themselves to Survive The Onslaught of Communications Apps

Last year Viber CEO Talmon Marco took the fight to the telco companies around the world. On stage at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, he described how Viber had introduced various features to text messaging in just two years that SMS still did not have after decades. This year, WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum announced voice calling for WhatsApp at the same event. The war between telco infrastructure companies and communication services companies is becoming more intense. We’ve crossed the point in which apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook, KakaoTalk, Line, Viber, WeChat, and others are strong…

  • A Balinese new year: After the party comes silence

    Cezanne
    10 Apr 2014 | 12:37 am
Happy new year, it’s 1936! That is, according to the Balinese calendar at least. On 31 March, Bali rung in its Lunar New Year with the annual festivities that surround the unique Hindu holiday of Nyepi. A time to make and keep balance with nature, Nyepi reflects the harmonious relationship that exists between good and evil. On the day equivalent to new year’s eve, banjars (village communities) all across the island parade around their other-worldly Ogoh-Ogoh, enormous bamboo structures meant to emulate the evil spirits that we must rid ourselves of at the end of each year.
  • Land Ahoy! Your treasure map to the Gilis.

    Bérénice
    1 Apr 2014 | 7:11 pm
The Gilis consist of 3 small, white sand islands just off the northwest coast of Lombok. Over there, no roads, no cars: just bikes and carts pulled by small horses called Cidomo. It is the ideal place to relax and explore the seabed, all in a very relaxed atmosphere. Gili Trawangan, the largest island in the west, is the most active and most developed. On the east coast resides a large number of restaurants, bars, clubs and diving resorts. Moving away from the crowds up to the northwest of the island, the atmosphere is much more tranquil. Gili Meno, located in the center is the quietest of…
  • It’s Saner in Sanur! Discover 5 of Bali’s Secret Locales

    25 Mar 2014 | 7:16 pm
We all know that Seminyak and Kuta are Bali’s “it spots” if you’re looking for the chicest restaurants, shopping and out-all-night party scenes. But is that all Bali has to offer? Heck no! What about those of you who are in search of a different side of Bali? One less crowded, more low-key and a bit more traditional perhaps? Once referred to as S’NORE-ville (Zzz), perception has it that Sanur is a sleepy coastal town where only the retired folks retreat to and nothing is open past 8pm. But as one of the first expat enclaves in Bali, Sanur has developed as a community rather…
  • Bali loves kids, kids love Bali!

    Daniel
    4 Mar 2014 | 10:41 pm
…and Sandrine Soimaud knows that well! The author of the book “My Life in Bali” (or Ma vie Balinaise) understands this magic relationship between them. She was working along with a local Balinese, Made Suradiya, in producing this precious book and voilà, it is now ready for your reading pleasure. Though this book has an outlook of a children’s book, you could definitely take a look at it too and know Bali from a different perspective. I’m sure that kids and adults alike would love this book; casually written, with occasional humour that will make you smile, as well as the nicely…
